Commissioned by developer Koopmans and investor Vesteda, TANGRAM is designing the interior of the common areas, entrance halls, and corridors for their residential building ‘De Weverij’ in Roombeek, Enschede. This building, as the 5th icon for Roombeek, holds a strong symbolic reference to the 2000 disaster but also to the industrial past of the location as an old textile weaving mill. This translates into upholstery strongly reminiscent of the textile heritage, while students from the adjacent ARTEZ art academy are invited to design a reference to the site’s eventful history in the entrance hall through a competition.
