Artificial Intelligence and the Soft Values of Architecture
In its exhibition “Immeasurably Important”, TANGRAM Architects explores the convergence of architecture and artificial intelligence. It calls for a conscious and holistic use of technology—one that goes beyond innovation alone. The exhibition is an invitation to reflect on the values that shape our built environment.

While AI offers efficiency and problem-solving capabilities, the exhibition highlights the importance of soft values such as well-being, social cohesion, cultural connection, intuitive use of space—and not to forget… beauty. These are values that are inherently difficult to quantify and, therefore, challenging to translate into data. But ignoring them threatens our very humanity.

What is essential is a dialogue on how technology and architecture can together create a future that is both functional and human-centered.

de Architect NL is spotlighting the topic through a series of three essays by Guus Enning and Bart Mispelblom Beyer. The first essay, titled “AI in the Architecture Firm Is Like a Swiss Army Knife: ‘A Precision Tool with Great Potential’”, was published on May 28, 2025.

The second installment, “Will AI Replace Architects in the Future?”, is now online.
The final part of the series will be published on June 23.
